![]() There are many versions of what the Seventeen emblem might mean. ![]() ![]() Together they form a cut diamond as if hinting at the high value of the group. On the left is a trapezoidal diagonal strip, and on the right is a complex polygon. Above is a small triangle pointing downwards. The Seventeen logo comprises several geometric shapes in an abstract triangular composition. One of the original graphic sign creators is Mingyu, a member of the group. Perhaps this idea originated with the song Shining Diamonds, which the musicians performed shortly before their debut. Its first logo, adopted in 2015, is shaped like a cut diamond. The boy band often uses the diamond symbol. In other words, the more fans the Seventeen members have, the brighter they shine on stage. It is believed that the more carats in a stone, the more valuable it is. The winning title Carat has a deep semantic connection. In 2016, the group conducted a poll to choose a name for their official fan club. The creative team attracts attention with their music and maintains a close connection with the audience. Several more successful compilations followed, and 13 idols recently embarked on a world tour. Seventeen’s debut album broke records, staying on the Billboard World Albums charts for 11 weeks. The total is 13 plus 3 and plus 1.Īnother version of the origin of the name concerns the average age of those who joined the composition in 2015: at that time, they were about 17 years old. The group itself is also counted as a whole. It turns out that the number 17 includes artists and three divisions (directions of hip-hop, vocals, and dance). And the pushing of 3 units cause people might find 13 members intimidating. Many wonders why the South Korean boy band is called Seventeen, even though there are only 13 members. Pledis is good enough to have Seventeen maintain a strong Korean fanbase first before entering JP or US market, maybe after a lesson from After School and Nu'est falldown. That variety show made kpop fans/general public interested to check out Seventeen, which they earned a fried chicken CF and to have Season 2 (which they're only group till today to appear 2nd time). Seniors like Vixx, Shinee, EXO, Mamamoo are vibing with Adore U, so count that as promoting? Managers from other agencies said Seventeen perform like "veterans". People find it interesting to watch their live performances because everyone is wow-ed by 13 members, their choreography and their energy on stage. ![]() Adore U, Mansae and Pretty U performances have tons of version and easter eggs. It's only when they continue releasing Mansae, Pretty U and Very Nice that helped them stand out among other rookie groups.įrom what other Carats shared, these are the possible factors (correct me if am incorrect): But compare with iKon and Twice (the groups that honestly gained more attention), Seventeen doesn't really become popular right away. Once again seventeen has honestly only survived because of obviously the fans and them being vocal but because they had the self producing title that allowed them to make songs to have a comeback etc.Īgree with most comments, Seventeen stood out from other bgs with freshteen concept and marketing themselves as self-producing idol group. Their eventual downfall or at least going out of the limelight was because of pledis terrible mismanagement of them as a group. Their debut song broke and held the record of most viewed debut song for a long while which says a lot because this was before thing like streaming was really a thing. While there were some idols who wrote their own songs, seventeen being known as a selfproducing group really made them stand out along with the sheer amount of members they too.Īlso I’d like to add while nuest actually did really well on their debut. Seventeen’s adore you really broke the norm and honestly changed a Lot of the kpop scene. But what I can say is at the time most if not all the bg comebacks were very dark and edgy not a lot of fresh and cutesy concepts. I can’t say much about the statistics and sales.
